St. Louis Shopping: My Saks Fifth Avenue #Saks5STL

As a new season approaches, one that immediately follows international fashion month and then transitions into the busiest time of the year for shopping, I have no doubt that most of you have given some thought to what you'll be wearing in the coming months. Whether you've been storing your ideas mentally, making a list or abusing Polyvore, a new collaboration is about to hit St. Louis that will make your shopping woes disappear.

This October, Fox & Gypsy (Voted Best Fashion Blog in St. Louis by ALIVE Magazine) will share their "Saks 5" in a collaboration with Saks Fifth Avenue at Plaza Frontenac. Of course, I couldn't resist the opportunity to share my own Saks 5 in an effort to prepare you for months of blogger-guided shopping.

You can see more photos from my shopping adventure at #Saks5STL on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

First things first... With 11 more months of #Saks5STL coming your way, you need to get your shopping attire in order. My ideal outfit for perusing the racks at Saks Fifth Avenue Plaza Frontenac is an easy shift, slip-on flats and a light jacket. These three easy pieces make for quick and efficient trips to the dressing room.

Take a hint from Coco and leave those accessories at home. You're at Saks on a mission and that statement necklace is going to weigh you down! Your best bet is to smell like a pretty pretty princess and Jo Malone ($60-$115) is my go-to. Saks at Plaza Frontenac has a great selection of scents, and you can ask one of their talented fragrance associates to walk you through the collection. The natural fragrances are perfect for any season and change 2-3 times during wear, which I love. They only get better as the day (or night!) goes on.

Alright, you're all set for a great day of retail therapy with my first three Saks 5! Shift dress. Light jacket. Jo Malone. Now, onto the good stuff....

Once you arrive, be sure to visit the designer atrium, beauty counter, 10022-SHOE and bag departments. It's likely that you'll end up in footwear after making your rounds because let's get serious - Saks10022-SHOE is the best shoe floor in town. Without hesitation, I'd snag this pair of black leather captoe ankle booties by Rachel Roy ($325). The polite hardware breathes new life into an otherwise basic silhouette. I'm sure you've already noticed, but this trendy twist on a classic staple is as wearable as your go-to pair of black pumps, but with the spice you need to pull off pretty much anything on top (Laundry day? Pair these with a vintage tee and your favorite bag and you're good to go.).

Transitioning into Autumn means neutrals are sure to take over your wardrobe. Add an unexpected pop of color with this alternative approach to the everyday bag. On point and bound to wow, this iridescent Rebecca Minkoff crossbody  ($495) will be your favorite purchase of the season (Cost per wear? Next to nothing!).

That's my Saks 5! I'm curious... how would you style these pieces? Could you rock an iridescent bag? Is a reptile captoe too much of just enough? Leave your opinions in the comments and I'll write back!
