Sometimes, you just need to eat dinner with a friend on your patio. In my case, I needed to paint my nails with my good friend Kristen on the balcony of our loft. Kristen owns downtown's most darling, one-of-a-kind salon and made a name for herself in St. Louis even without the convenience of a network after she moved to St. Louis from Florida a few years ago. She brought her DIY gel kit and I opened a bottle of white (a housewarming token from our good friends Justin and Anna) and made some lasagna, brussels sprouts and fresh greens.
If we're being honest, my nails looked terrible. Kristen's, though, were flawless (as usual - I already know this from her complimentary nail changes with color). The lasagna was frozen from Trader Joe's, the basil plant died two weeks later and I peeled off my nails almost right away. It was a beautiful night and a great experience with an old friend. And, fortunately for all of us, Kristen can actually give you a real DIY gel nail tutorial. Subscribe to her blog here to catch her step-by-steps - I suggest her video hair how-to's.
