heartland; underdog is a collection of people, places + projects coming out of st. louis, missouri. we hope h;u can become a platform for compassion, empathy + inspiration. our goal is to connect st. louisans. we create intersections and bridge gaps. the stories you see on h;u are curated, photographed and written by ashley kuenstler + lindsay pattan.
do you remember the moment you realized you weren't the smartest person in the room? heartland; underdog celebrates the people who are smarter, more creative + cooler than we are, and the projects they've gifted the world.

we work in photography, advertising, media + business, spend a lot of time helping other people do cool stuff + sit on our fair share of community boards + committees. it's our passion. if you need help on a project, it never hurts to ask, so shoot us an email.
design - all kinds of it - is important to us. seriously, the fashion kind, the interior kind, the fine arts kind, the performing kind. we love it + we live for it, so send us your projects, your cool city loft + your tattoos. we want to see it.

what projects have you worked on?
this is our project. welcome. we'll also be launching a few socially charged community projects in 2015, and we hope you'll join us. stay tuned.
why st. louis?
st. louis is home to some of the country's most talented chefs, makers, journalists, entrepreneurs, fortune 500s, and the list goes on... we're here to tell the stories of the people who make st. louis a great place, to live, work + play.
what's the deal with H;U?
h;u has been around for a few years now, with mostly filler content because taking pictures is fun + we have issues with over-committing ourselves. now, h;u is a place for stories. we think it will stay that way, but the cool thing about having a blog is that you can do whatever you want to with it. we hope you'll stick around long enough to see h;u grow into something amazing.
why do you post political content?
see, we care about people. not just their paintings + their startups, but their rights + quality of life. why? well, it would suck to not have rights because you're a ________ person. don't you think it's weird that an adjective dictates your quality of life? we think it's pretty terrible + since you can do whatever you want with your blog (thank you, internet), we're going to talk about it sometimes. we will also be launching several socially charged projects this year, and we hope you'll check back for more information. most importantly, we hope you'll get involved!
